Welcome to The Simply Crafted Life!
I guess since you clicked on the “About Me” tab, you came here to learn a little bit about me and my blog. My name is Sarah and I am a mama to two wonderful princesses – aged 7 and 12. I am also a teacher, an army wife, a mother, a Christian, and a Canadian. We live in a small town in Ontario (just outside of the national capital of Ottawa) and we moved here from Edmonton, Alberta, even though I was born and raised in Newfoundland, and am still a Newfie at heart.
This blog began shortly after I had my second child, and became obsessed with DIY’ing everything in sight! Becoming Martha was the original name of this blog, and it focused on creative ways to make a house a home – posts related to projects, crafts, parenting, recipes, and travelling, as well as personal stories of trials and triumphs, were all found here from time to time. I was basically trying to do everything Martha Stewart did.
Why the name change?
However, as I grew and matured, I developed a need for a simpler existence. I struggled with creating projects simply for the sake of the blog, and I was drowning in “stuff”. I had so many supplies and half finished projects that I became overwhelmed. I took a long hard look at what was important to my blog readers and in my own life, and narrowed the focus down. What remained was an emphasis on simpler crafts (like everything Cricut and kids crafts), budget friendly parties, memory keeping ideas, and overall, living a simpler life.
But don’t worry, I still have lots of great content to share. Our journey is just getting started, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
