Friendship bracelets are the perfect solution for several reasons – first of all, it’s fairly cheap. Most patterns only require one supply – the thread. It’s also low mess – unlike the garden covered newspaper hats. Lastly, making these bracelets are great for helping develop fine motor skills and great coordination. How many kids crafts can boost all of that?
1 Supply, 20 Friendship Bracelet Tutorials
My daughter is a lot like me – a huge crafter. You should see the exotic creations she comes up with. She loves to share them too, bless her heart, but what’s one to do with a newspaper hat that has leaves, tree branches, and flowers glued on?
I wanted to find a way to share new options for crafting and gift giving and thought about how I could doing this without crushing her creative soul by saying “Get that hat out of my house before there are critters crawling around!”. That’s when I remembered how my friends and I would spend hours making friendship bracelets out of embroidery floss that we would snatch from our mother’s cross stitch stash.
I had my daughter try several of these with me, and we created a bunch for her school friends for the end of the year – this would also be a great activity to entertain your l’il ones during those rainy summer days or on long car rides. Or have a bracelet making party!
There are all sorts of patterns out there, with everything from bows to beads, but here are 20 tutorials that I love best for kids, whether alone or as part of some quality time with mom. Here they are:

Sarah says
Hi! I made the purple and grey one by following the basic chevron pattern but tying it loosely so that there were spaces between each row of knots. Hope this helps!

These bracelets are a-maze-ing!! How long does it take to make the amethyst coloured bracelet???

The one in the first image, with the purples and grey? Hmm… depends on how focused you are on it and how quick your hands move… it took me about 30 minutes 🙂 Hope that helps!
