Party favors are always something I spend a great deal of time thinking about. I want it to tie in with the theme but I want it to be useful too – you know how sometimes you get party favors that fit the party really well but get tucked away in a back closet or thrown out? I hate those. Plus, I don’t like to spend a lot on favors – when you have twenty kids coming to the party, costs can start to add up pretty quick. I always try to find a way to create a cute little bag for each child for $1-$2. Here’s what I ended up with:
I knew I wanted little containers of bubbles, because that is one of C’s favorite summer activities. She also loves sitting in the “tree”house (it’s not really in a tree) and drawing and/or coloring. So I decided to put in a notebook and pencil. I looked everywhere in this tiny town for some summer themed notebooks with no luck. Instead, I grabbed packs of 4 plain notebooks from the dollar store, and packs of pencils that have the leads that pop out and go in the ends. I made covers for the notebooks that matched the party printables and printed them onto sticker paper. I also made strips to wrap around the pencils.
Then, I took one of the circles from the printables I had made, and printed them onto sticker paper as well, and stuck them on the bubbles. Lastly, I added a jumbo freezie (one of C’s favorite summer treats – we always stock up on a couple of boxes at costco as soon as summer season starts). Cute, eh? Then, I packaged them in this pretty bag, which I will show you how to make in the next post –
The notebooks were 4/$1, so 25 cents each, and the pencils were also 4/$1. The freezies I am always stocked up with, and the bubbles were 8/$3, or 38 cents each. So altogether, the favors cost 88 cents each (plus the cost of freezies if you have to buy them). Not bad!
