Personalized trick or Treat Bags Supply List
If you want to make your own version of these trick or treat bags, here was my supply list:
- Printable iron on vinyl
- A plain canvas type bag
- Clip Art
A few notes about my supplies… The clip art is from a graphic design shop on Etsy named PrettyGrafikDesign. (Heads up – she often has amazing sales… we’re talking under $1 for a pack of clip art!) and the bags are the canvas type ones they carry at Michaels during special seasons. These were from the Halloween line, of course! A plain canvas bag will work as well, just make sure you get the right iron on for your fabric color (there is one for light fabrics and one for dark fabrics).
How to Make Personalized Trick or Treat Bags
The first step is to upload your clip art image in Cricut Design Space. I uploaded it as a print and cut image, and then added the name using the text layer. When I changed the text to print and cut, I was given a new option – to fill with pattern (see above image)! I filled Stella’s name with a spiderweb pattern and Cecelia’s with a grey chevron. I am so glad they added this option, because it adds a lot of fun to projects!
To make sure it prints and cuts as one solid image, I flattened the image once I had it laid out how I liked it. This ensures it will only cut around the image and not in between each individual piece.
Once ready, hit go, where you will be able to print on your own printer at home. Let it dry for a few minutes before sticking it in the Explore to be cut. I used a green (medium grip) mat, but the blue (light grip) mat would be fine too. This iron on is thinner than other iron on’s though, so I would be cautious using the purple (heavy grip) mat.
Once the cut is done, use the weeder to peel off the excess, and use the piece of transfer paper that came in the pack to position your design on the bag.
Applying Heat Transfer to Personalized Trick or Treat Bags
Now for the ironing… make sure you start your iron on the lowest setting possible and work your way up. I did the orange bag first, and my iron was too hot! I melted a little piece of the bag on the side, as you can see in the image below…
Also, make sure you cover it with the included parchment paper, and maybe even a thin cloth or piece of fabric as well. It’s easier to go from lowest to highest heat, than it is to do the reverse – trust me!
Once you have the design ironed on, you’re done, and your sweeties have some adorable treat bags for Halloween!
