Easy Last Minute Teacher Gift – Make it in Under 10 Minutes for $10 with Cricut’s new Iron on Designs, chalk style paint, and a wood canvas from the dollar store.
Easy Last Minute Teacher Gift with Cricut Iron-On Designs
When I saw these awesome iron on designs from Cricut, I knew I wanted to create a wooden sign with one. You won’t believe how simple and easy it is to create a fabulous gift, whether it’s for a teacher, a new baby, or so much more.
To create your own, here’s what you will need:
(click the affiliate links below for easy shopping!)
- wood canvas (I found mind at the dollar store)
- Cricut iron on design (I used the Teacher Apple design, but they have several other teacher designs as well)
- chalk style acrylic paint
- paintbrush
- EasyPress (optional, but very helpful)
- iron-on protective sheet (again, optional, but very helpful!)
Easy Last Minute Teacher Gift: The How-To
The process is very simple. First, paint your canvas. I used two coats.
You guys, I can’t emphasize the next step enough. LET YOUR PAINT DRY. Like fully and completely dry. Mine was still tacky to the touch but not wet when I tried this first and it ended in disaster. The iron on shrivelled up and wouldn’t attach to the wet paint. So let it dry as long as you can.
Once the paint has dried, place your iron on design on the wood, and use the protective sheet to cover it. Use the EasyPress settings for wood and iron on lite (300 degrees for 40 seconds).
TIP: If you are using a wood canvas that is not solid all the way through (i.e. it has sides), place something hard under the middle so that the middle can’t bend inward. I placed mine on a thick book.
And that’s honestly all there is to it! You could also cut the teachers name with vinyl or iron-on and attach it to the bottom for an extra personalized touch. But what a great and easy last minute teachers gift that you can create with the new Cricut iron on designs!
