On Monday I told you that my Ombre Style Glittered Acorns weren’t the only bling in my fall decor – I also glittered up some acorns! Funny story – my daughter and I went acorn collecting one day and we left the bag in the stroller. When we went back the next day, there was a hole in the bag and all the acorns were gone! The squirrels got to them! So we had to go back and collect more.
I wanted a rustic, chipped look so I didn’t want them completely covered in glitter. To accomplish this, I pulled the tops off and then put the bottoms in a ziploc bag (1 bag for each colour of glitter). I sprayed them with spray adhesive, poured in the glitter, and gave it a good shaking. Easy – just like Shake n Bake! Then I used hot glue to stick the tops back on.
Easy, peasy right? My little nephew thought they were just amazing.. he even pocketed some to take home with him! I put them in a vase and they look so cute in my little fall vignette space, don’t you think?

Love those glittered acorns. I love to find things in nature to use in decorating. Displaying them in the glass container really shows them off. I can see them hanging from a mini Christmas tree.
Enjoy those diaper years! They are quickly gone.

These are so pretty. They would go perfectly in the new color scheme of my living room! We had a jar full of acorns a few years ago that my boys collected – only to find little acorn worms had crawled out of them! Eck!

I hope you don’t get “critters”. I used acorns with other nuts for a fall sorting activity at school and I won’t do that again. Bugs..wormy things…it was gross. Good Luck.
Sarah @ The Simply Crafted Life says
I actually washed them all very well before I used them. Thank you for the concern though!
