My girls are forever carrying around notepads and pens (as I may have mentioned in my previous DIY notebook posts here and here), so when I saw a template on Silhouette for a notebook cover, I knew I had to create some for them. I grabbed some cardstock, summer inspired patterned paper, and a few other supplies (that I bet you too have lying around), and less then half an hour later, I had this cute stack of notebooks.
If you want to create your own, here’s what you will need:
- silhouette template cut out on cardstock and paper
- plain writing paper, cut to 3 inches x 3.25 inches
- bulldog clips
- mod podge
- double sided tape (or glue stick)
First, take the writing paper and secure it with a bulldog clip. Spread modpodge over the top of your paper with a paintbrush, making sure your paper stays very tight together.
Add a couple more clips over the top, where you applied the mod podge, until it dries.
While you wait for it to dry, start adding your patterned pieces to the template. I attached them with double sided tape but you could use a glue stick as well.
When the mod podge has dried, use double sided (or your glue stick) to attach the note pad to the inside of the template. Fold the template a small pen can be placed in the slots on the side.
I added some velcro to the flaps to keep it closed.
And that’s all there is to it. I told you it was easy right? My daughters were already salivating as I was assembling them, seeing the pretty paper and the colored pens. I hope your kiddo’s – or you – enjoy them too!
