This adorable trick or treat bag takes coloring to a new level – and they’re so easy to create with just a few materials, and of course, some colorful sharpies!
Color Your Own Trick or Treat Bag
My Cricut machine made this project so simple, and you’ll only need three other supplies:
- a canvas tote bag
- heat transfer vinyl (buy it here by the roll or by the sheet)
- sharpies
The How To:
The first step is to find a design you like. I chose a sugar skull because I love the color options it provided. You might find a design in Cricut’s Design Space, or you can use your own. Etsy has a huge selection of digital line stamps that you can easily upload into your software (here’s one of my favorite stores for digital stamps – Pretty Grafik Designs).
Once you have the design sized to fit your bag, place your HTV with the plastic sheet down on your cutting mat, and cut your image. Remember to mirror so it doesn’t print backwards! Then start weeding…
I’m not going to lie, weeding this sugar skull was pretty time intensive – it took a good hour to do, thanks to all of the small designs. But I watched a show while doing it, and it was an easy task, just time consuming.
Once the design is ironed on to the bag (follow the instructions that came with your HTV), it’s time to move on to the fun part – coloring! You can use sharpies or fabric markers, but since I have about 60 sharpies and only 10 fabric markers, the choice as obvious for me!
As much fun as it was, my daughter really wanted to color it herself, so I had to give her the control. She did a great job though!
And there you have it, the finished product! Isn’t it adorable? She can’t wait to fill it up with treats. Now I have to make one for my other daughter – leave a comment if you have an idea of a fun design!
I'd love to hear from you! Leave a comment!
