I wanted to incorporate a lot of color into my Boo’s monster party, so I tried to think of colorful decor. I had seen a lot of DIY piñatas on Pinterest lately, but she is only two, and I didn’t really want to do a piñata. However, it did give me this idea of just creating a flat number with fringed crepe paper that resembled a piñata:
I found these crepe paper rolls at the dollar store. There were 6 rolls in a pack of various colors, and I had to buy two packs in order to find one of each of the party colors. I only used about 1/2 of each roll, so if you are using one color, it will probably only take one roll. (*Note: These are not the streamers, they are just rolled up crepe paper strips. They are only about an inch wide.)
Then I started cutting them, really wishing I had bought those fringe scissors I saw. Cut almost to the end, being careful not to snip all the way.
Unravel your bundle, and glue to the bottom of your number. Repeat. I did three rows of each color and then switched to a new color.
Snip the paper at the end of your number. Because of the overlapping, you can use any pieces in the next row and you won’t see any seams or gaps.

What a great tutorial and a great idea. I’m saving this one for future use. I’ll link back when I do it. Jodi @ http://www.meaningfulmama.com
