Are you ready to see how I created this awesome winter wreath?
As you have probably noticed by now, the schedule is a little off lately here on The Simply Crafted Life. My husband has been away on a training course and has been gone since October, so things are starting to get tiring. Also, the craft time gets pretty limited when you have to do everything else that comes with running a house and raising kids by yourself, plus your outside commitments. Not that I’m complaining, rather just explaining, why it’s kinda chaos. I just remind myself… 10 more days until he is home.
Last week, I had a meeting at my house for a committee that I am on at our church. I went grocery shopping that morning, and when I came back, I noticed that my Halloween wreath was still on my door. It was November 19! I scoffed at myself and took it down, but then frowned at my blank door… I was having guests over and my door was blank! (Now mind you, I am not this anal about everything – you might scrunch goldfish beneath your feet when you step through said door, but heaven forbid it not have a wreath on it.)
I stuck my wreath from last year on it, thankful that none of these ladies had been to my house last year to see it, and promised myself I would make a new one as soon as possible.
Well, yesterday I had 15 minutes free, and I knew it would be hard to start from scratch on a new wreath and finish in 15 minutes. I thought about my Fall Wreath, which was a big hit, and grabbed it out of, as my husband calls it, the Wreath Cemetery. I took the leaves and monogram off (they were only pinned on), and grabbed some winter stems that I had from last year. These stems had snow covered pinecones and leaves and some little white berry type things on it. I also grabbed some brown glitter ornaments (these are the cheap ones, from the dollar store, made of foam so they are fine if they fall), and a couple of gold berry sprigs.
I didn’t have any more pins, so I grabbed some jute twine, which camouflaged nicely with the burlap, and tied the ornaments and pinecone springs on. Then I stuck the berry sprigs into the burlap.
Seriously, less than 15 minutes… and I think I love it more than my fall one! What about you, do you have a winter wreath? Are you as obsessed as I am?

I like your version of this wreath-just made as similar one myself that I posted yesterday. I like the idea of pinecones for an overall wintery feel 🙂
