I have a confession to make. I am absolutely addicted to those adorable little paper straws. I use them every chance I can. Last week, I used them to make sprinkle filled pixie sticks, and today, I jazzed them up with some cute little straw flags – no printers or cutting machine involved!
To create these five minute straw flags, I used:
I also love to work on my foam mat from We R. Not sure why, but I love it so much! (It’s meant for use with the Sew Easy products, but I ended up using it for so much more!)
Now the steps are super complicated, so you better pay good attention. NOT! Here’s how it’s done, in case you haven’t figured it out already.
Cut a strip of Shape Tape. Mine was about 3/4-1″? Not sure, I didn’t measure it, because that would have defeated the “super quick” aspect of this project. I cut it the whole way across but ended up only using about 2/3 of it (so about 4″) for the flags.
I folded a crease in the middle of the tape before I peeled the backing away so I would know where to start wrapping my tape so it ended up evenly stuck together.
After I had the shape tape applied, I used scissors to cut a triangle out of the end so it created a flag/banner type shape. Again, eyeball it. This isn’t science folks!
The shape tape was pretty just as it was, but for a little extra sparkle, I used some gold alphabet stickers and stuck a monogram and an age on there. And that’s it… I was seriously done.
How cute do they look? I find its always the littlest things like this that make the most impact – like straws, water bottle and juice box wraps – these always get noticed, so why not spend five minutes before your party adding these babies to the table?
Don’t forget – you can use the code MARTHA at shopwer.com to receive 20% off your total order! They just released some new products, so be sure to check them out – I’m totally crushing on this flower punch board!
