Handlettered cut files add the perfect finishing touch to this DIY Small Gift Box – fill with chocolates to make the perfect teacher gift!
This beautifully hand lettered design was created by the uber talented Alexis from Persia Lou. These DIY small gift boxes are made with my Cricut and assembled in just a few minutes each. I stuffed them with Lindt chocolate and a Starbucks gift card.
Here’s how you can make your own…
DIY Small Gift Box – The How To
You will need:
- Cricut flat cardboard (from the corrugated cardboard pack), or a thick cardstock
- holographic vinyl
- handlettered tag SVG file (part of the Christmas Tags bundle from Fresh Cuts SVG Bundle)
- scoring stylus for Cricut Explore or Cricut Maker, or scoring wheel (Cricut Maker only)
Open up the SVG file in Design Space. There are quite a few options in the file, so start by choosing UnGroup (top right hand panel), and then delete the layers you aren’t using.
I am keeping the longer tag styles with the writing inside, as shown above.
Click the first remaining tag, and select Contour (bottom right hand panel). In there, click the outside cutline to turn it off, along with the circle at the top.
When you click out of the contour box, this is what will remain. Repeat with the other two tags, if you choose to use all three styles.
DIY Small Gift Box – Assemble
Cut the designs out of holographic vinyl, or whatever vinyl you choose. Also, cut the gift box (Gift Box #M3B0C0 in Design Space) out of flat cardboard. I used the contour tool to turn off the cut out in the gift box as well.
Weed the design, and use transfer paper to apply it to the front panel of your gift box.
I used my brayer, and it helped the vinyl adhere really well. It was even easier than using the scraper.
Aren’t they the perfect sparkly way to package up a gift?
