Learn how to make a papel picado banner using your cricut and SVG files from Fresh Cut – perfect for a fiesta themed birthday party!
The latest edition of the Fresh Cut SVG Bundle has a fiesta theme – which fits perfectly with all of the latest trends like tacos, pinatas, llamas, and more. Before we get to the tutorial, here’s a quick peek of the bundle:
How perfect are they?! One of the files is a papel picado banner that I created. It contains all letters from A-Z and numbers from 0-9. This is a perfect way to customize your own banner for a party. Let’s get started!
How to Make a Papel Picado Banner
Here are the materials you will need:
- Fiesta bundle from Fresh Cut SVG Files
- Thick paper such as cardstock or poster board (I used the foil poster board from Cricut)
- Ribbon or string
- Glue or double sided tape
- Cricut machine (or other machine capable of cutting SVG files)
To start, download the Fiesta bundle and open Cricut Design Space (or your machine’s software program). Upload the appropriate file (one is A-P, and the other is Q-Z and 0-9) to Design Space. (If you need help opening an SVG in Design Space, you can view this tutorial here.)
Once uploaded, all of the letters in the file will be grouped together. Use the ungroup tool to isolate them.
Delete all of the letters you aren’t using. I left O N E to make a first birthday banner.
Size them (I made mine 4″ wide) and change the colors to your paper or cardstock.
Hit Make it, and then all that’s left to do is use glue or tape to stick them onto your ribbon (or string).
Easy, right? And you can make so many other adorable crafts with this Fiesta Bundle, like…
…this pinata themed t-shirt, or…
…these 3D Paper Cactuses (or Catci?), or….
…how about some little Fiesta Cuties, which will add life to any party!
There are so many other ideas for this Fiesta Bundle, so make sure you check them all out over at Fresh Cut (you can also view previous bundles there as well, in case you missed out!)
