This post shares a free teacher appreciation SVG cut file, which looks great cut out of iron on vinyl and adhered to a tote bag. Fill it with summer essentials and you have a great end of the year gift for those special teachers!
Today, I’m joining forces with several other amazing bloggers. We are sharing great end of the year teacher gifts that you can create with your Cricut. My project was an adorable tote bag that reads “Teachers Gonna Teach” and has glittery stars accenting the design.
You can grab this Free Teacher Appreciation SVG in my shop and make your own. Here’s what you’ll need:
- blank tote bag
- iron on vinyl (I used Navy Iron on Lite and Multi Glitter Iron on)
- EasyPress (optional, but creates a better bond than an iron)
- Free Teacher Appreciation SVG cut file (download using the form at the bottom of this post)
To start, download the cut file from my shop, unzip it, and open the SVG in Design Space. (If you aren’t sure how to upload an SVG into Design Space, you can get full instructions in this post.)

Using the file in Design Space
Ungroup the layers, and then select only the star layers and attach them. Change the color in Design Space. This will tell the program you want it cut on a different colored material than the text. Next, select all of the text and attach. Lastly, select both attached pieces and group (this will allow you to move and size the layers at the same time).
Size to fit your tote bag (my design was 9″ x 4.5″) and hit make it. Make sure to place your iron on face down on the mat and hit MIRROR when you make your project. While it is cutting, preheat the tote bag by running over it with your EasyPress or iron.

Using EasyPress to Apply Iron On
If you are using the EasyPress, you will want to place your glitter vinyl (or whatever material requires the highest heat) first. I lined my two layers up using the transfer paper, placed them on the bag, and then removed the navy blue layer. I set the EasyPress to 340 for glitter vinyl, and pressed the star layer for 30 seconds. Glitter vinyl is a warm peel (you pull the transfer paper off while it is still warm rather than waiting for it to cool fully).
Place the top layer, adjust the temperature on the EasyPress (iron on lite is 315 degrees) and press for 30 seconds. Iron on Lite is also a warm peel material.
Once the transfer sheet is peeled off, you are done and ready to stuff that bag full of goodies. Magazines, a book store gift card, a fancy cup or water bottle, prepackaged slushy drinks, and a cozy towel have all been favorites in the past!
